Otlen Linwood Drake Jr.

Otlen Linwood Drake Jr., age 56, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on February 23, 2025, at his residence. He was born on December 18, 1968, in Pink Hill, North Carolina, to the late Otlen Linwood Drake Sr. and Dorothy Mae Mayes.

Otlen was a hardworking man who spent his career at International Paper in Riegelwood, NC. He completed his education through the 10th grade and was known for his dedication to his work and his family.

​

Otlen is survived by his loving mother, Dorothy Sledge, of Fayetteville, NC; his children, Kevin Drake (Bronx, NY), Nautica Rouse (Fayetteville, NC), Otlen Drake (Dublin, NC), Tyeshia Kelly (Elizabethtown, NC), Jquan Drake (Bronx, NY), and Tryal Drake (Bronx, NY). He also leaves behind his siblings: Glenn Mayes (Elizabethtown, NC), Allison Drake (Harlem, NY), Valerie Sledge-Carr (Stedman, NC), Elonda McKoy (Fayetteville, NC), Rebecca Sledge (Fayetteville, NC), Alicia Johnson (Fayetteville, NC), Antonio Johnson (Newburg, NY), and Gwendolyn Sledge (Fayetteville, NC), as well as a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

A funeral service honoring Otlen’s life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Newton Chapel. Burial will follow at a later time. Arrangements are entrusted to F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary in Elizabethtown, NC.

Otlen will be remembered for his strength, his kindness, and the love he had for his family. May he rest in peace.
